Ministers Offer Key Transport Messages at ITF Summit
27 May 2011: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development's (OECD) International Transport Forum (ITF) published the document “Key Messages from Ministers - 2011 Annual Summit: Transport for Society,” stressing the complex challenge of meeting society's increasing demand for high-quality transport, while simultaneously reducing the adverse impacts of transport on the environment.
The Ministers of the ITF, meeting in Leipzig, Germany, on 26 May 2011, agreed to focus on transport challenges such as equity, safety, security, urbanization, economic growth, employment, efficiency, financing, innovation and the environment. On the environment, they agreed to encourage the use and further development of modes of transport that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve individual health.
