JI Supervisory Committee Considers Draft Guidelines on Prior Consideration
25 November 2011: The report of the 27th meeting of the Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) is now available on the JI website. At the meeting, the JISC considered matters relating to the operation of JI, including the draft guidelines on the demonstration and assessment of prior consideration of JI.
At the meeting, which was held from 24-25 November 2011, in Durban, South Africa, the Committee agreed that the evidence for prior consideration of JI in the decision to implement proposed projects, as well as continued and real actions by project participants to secure JI status, are important issues to address. It therefore agreed that the first review of JI guidelines should take into account the proposed approaches in the draft guidelines, in lieu of adopting specific guidelines at this point in time.
The JSIC also considered matters relating to: accreditation of independent entities; determination and verification reports; the JI management plan and resources for the work on JI; and relations with stakeholders, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
