IUCN Releases Publication on Climate Change and Biodiversity in the EU Overseas Entities

29 November 2010: IUCN, in collaboration with France's ONERC (Observatoire National sur les Effets du Réchauffement Climatique), has released a background paper on the proceedings of the IUCN Conference “The European Union and its Overseas Entities: Strategies to Counter Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss.”

The event convened from 7-11 July 2008, in Reunion Island, France. The paper offers a comparative analysis of the 28 overseas entities of the EU. It includes: a thematic analysis presenting the transversal threats to overseas entities in the face of climate change; a section on each of the 28 entities, providing contextual data and an overview of their significant biodiversity, as well as new threats resulting from climate change; and examples of responses to climate change, or “best practices.” [The Publication]
