IPCC11 June 2012: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has reported on progress made towards completing the Fifth Assessment Report (AR5), which will provide a policy-relevant scientific view of the current state of knowledge about climate change, its potential impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.

AR5, which will be released in 2013 and 2014, reviews and assesses the most recent scientific, technical and socioeconomic information published worldwide on climate change. The IPCC indicates that its three working groups are seeking wide participation of experts representing all geographic areas in the review of drafts.

It informs that: the expert review period for the first order draft of Working Group II (on impacts, adaptation and vulnerability) will take place from 11 June - 6 August 2012; the expert review of the first order draft of Working Group III (on mitigation of climate change) will hold from 20 July - 14 September 2012, and is currently inviting experts for participation; and that Working Group I (on the physical science of climate change) received 21,400 comments from 659 experts worldwide in the expert review of its first order draft, which ran from 16 December 2011 - 10 February 2012. The IPCC further underlines that the second order draft of Working Group I will consider the comments received, and be available for expert and government review from 5 October - 30 November 2012.
