IPCC Chair Issues Statement Regarding News Reports on Hacking of Email Communications

7dic_09_04December 2009: Rajendra Pachauri, Chair of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), has issued a statement regarding news reports on the hacking of email communications between scientists who have been involved as authors in IPCC assessments. He clarifies that the IPCC follows impartial, open and objective assessment of every aspect of climate change carried out with complete transparency, and relies mainly on peer-reviewed literature. He adds that all the IPCC summaries for policymakers are accepted and approved by all the governments of the world, and concludes that "no individual or small group of scientists is in a position to exclude a peer-reviewed paper from an IPCC assessment."
