IPCC Bureau to Plan for Fifth Assessment Report

November 2008: The 38th Session of the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is scheduled to convene from 24-25 November 2008, at World Meteorological Organization (WMO) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

The meeting is expected to

make progress on the planning for the Fifth Assessment Report, and thus the activities

of the IPCC for the next five to six years. The Bureau will also consider a

scoping meeting for a possible IPCC Special Report on managing risks of extreme

events to advance climate change adaptation, as mandated by the Panel at its

29th session. In addition, the Bureau will discuss the development of new

scenarios to be used by the research community. [IPCC Calendar of Events]
