ILO and OECD Strengthen Cooperation

25 May 2011: The International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding areas of common interest and activity, including employment, social protection, labor migration, green jobs, occupational safety and health and statistics.

The MoU provides that the ILO and the OECD will endeavor to strengthen their cooperation and coordination in fields of common interest and activity, including: development policy issues, poverty reduction and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); the effects of a long-term shift towards a low-carbon economy, in particular the impact on the labor market, education and training policy implications, environmental sustainability and the economics of climate change; and trends and developments in occupational radiation protection in the field of nuclear energy.
