IFPRI Releases Brief on Including Agriculture in Copenhagen’s Agenda

30 March 2009: The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has released a brief titled “Agriculture and Climate Change: An Agenda for Negotiation in Copenhagen.”

This brief is the first in a series prepared to support the goal of putting agriculture on the agenda of the UNFCCC negotiations in Copenhagen in December 2009. The brief outlines three key messages: climate change will affect agriculture, but it is uncertain where and how much; agriculture can help mitigate greenhouse gas emissions; and cost-effective ways are needed to help poor farmers adapt to climate change. The brief also prescribes specific negotiating outcomes for the December negotiations. [The Brief]
