IAEA Publishes Overview of its Efforts to Tackle Climate Change
November 2009: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has released a document on its role in the fight against global climate change titled "Climate Change and the Atom."
The document illustrates the uses and importance of radioactive isotopes in climate science, and their application in other areas such as food and agriculture. In particular, it highlights the work of the IAEA's Food and Agriculture and Water Resources Programmes in promoting more sustainable agricultural production and water resource management, as well as the Agency's efforts to build national capacity of its member States in conducting independent energy and environmental analysis, and in developing strategic national energy plans.
