IAEA Participates in Launch of New Nuclear Energy Management School
11 November 2010: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), together with the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy, have launched the Nuclear Energy Management School to train a new generation of nuclear energy leaders.
Stemming from a rapid rise in nuclear power adoption for reasons including reduction of carbon emissions, up to 25 countries expected to begin operation of their first nuclear power plant within the next 20 years. This training programme aims to “ensure that that the necessary talent will be available to safely and sustainably operate and regulate a growing fleet of nuclear power plants worldwide.” The school offers three-week courses in new developments in technology and international perspectives on safe nuclear energy usage.
