The boat, which is named "Marti" (meaning seagull), was developed over four years with funding from several organizations, including the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
The boat will be refueled at the Hydrogenics Refueling Station at Golden Horn Estuary in Istanbul, which was created by the UNIDO International Centre for Hydrogen Energy Technology (ICHET). It will be fueled by one 8kW Hydrogenics HD8-500 Fuel Cell Power Module. The boat has a storage capacity of 20kg of Hydrogen and can operate for 10 hours on only 5kg, with a maximum speed of 13 km/h. The boat will be put into use on the Golden Horn estuary in Istanbul, shuttling between various wharfs and the Rahmi M. Koc Museum. [UNIDO Press Release]
