Growing Forest Partnerships Releases February Newsletter
February 2011: The Growing Forest Partnership (GFP) has released the February issue of its newsletter. GFP is an initiative funded by the World Bank that supports local, national and international networks to ensure that global discussions about forests include the real and current challenges faced by forest-dependent people and local forest managers.
The newsletter highlights projects taking place around the world with the help of GFP. It reports on: communication workshops held in GFP countries that promote the use of radio as a tool to reach local communities in rural areas and ensure communication flow; exchange programmes among countries (Guatemala and Peru, and Ghana, Burkina Faso and Liberia) to encourage South-South learning and collaboration; progress in projects conducted in Guatemala and Liberia; and participation in the Cancun Climate Change Conference in December 2010.
The World Bank, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) are implementing partners of the Growing Forest Partnerships. [Publication: GFP February Newsletter]
