First NAMA Submissions Received
1 October 2012: The UNFCCC Secretariat has announced that it has received the first submissions of nationally appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs) for the future NAMA Registry. The submissions, from Mali and Ethiopia, have been compiled in a temporary website.
The Conference of the Parties (COP), at its 16th session, decided to set up a registry to record NAMAs seeking international support, to facilitate the matching of finance, technology and capacity-building support with these actions, and to recognize other NAMAs. At COP 17, parties decided to develop the registry as a dynamic, web-based platform, which is to become operational in November 2012. In the meantime, parties and organizations are invited to submit NAMAs seeking support for preparation or implementation, NAMAs for recognition, and information on support for the preparation and implementation of NAMAs.
