European Commission Allocates Almost €7.3 Million to Central Asia for Adaptation

1 February 2010: The European Commission has allocated €7.295 million to help Central Asian countries reduce their vulnerability to natural disasters, raise awareness among local populations about environmental changes and provide them with tools to adapt to climate change.

The funds will be channelled through ECHO, the Commission's Humanitarian Aid department, and projects will be implemented by NGOs and international organizations including UN agencies. [EU Press Release]
