Doha Global Business Day Focuses on Diversifying Actions for Climate Impact

3 December 2012: Doha Global Business Day took place in Doha, Qatar, on 3 December 2012, on the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC. The event focused on the theme “Diversifying Actions for Climate Impact,” and was organized by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Doha Global Business Day gathered representatives of the private sector, international financing institutions, international organizations, governments, NGOs and others to address business perspectives on diversifying the energy mix by 2050 in the framework of global green growth. The event consisted of two sessions: the morning session addressed how to shift the balance of the energy mix towards a low-carbon economy; and the afternoon session focused on the opportunities for green growth in the Middle East.

Three initiatives were also presented in-between different panel discussions: the Global Electricity Initiative; Low-Carbon Technology Roadmap for the Indian Cement Industry; and the ICC Business World Trade Agenda. [IISD RS Coverage of Doha Business Day]
