CIAT Formalizes Climate Change and Biodiversity Partnership in Colombia

December 2010: The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) has formalized a framework agreement with the Colombian Corporation of Agricultural Research (Corpoica) and the Colombian Ministry of Agriculture to find solutions to help farmers confront climate change and assist in the development of the Colombian Orinoquia and Altillanura.

The agreement will encourage collaboration on: training to take advantage of biotechnology; strengthening capacity in intellectual property rights; and developing support strategies for research on tropical fruit trees. The partners agreed on the need to publish research and diffuse the work more effectively to rural farmers. [CIAT Press Release]
