CDM Executive Board Launches Two-Year Business Plan
1 February 2013: The Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has launched a two-year business plan, comprising projects aimed at building the Mechanism's success and promoting its use as a tool for low-carbon development.
The Board launched the business plan, together with a management plan, at its 71st meeting (EB71), which was held in Bonn, Germany, from 30 January to 1 February 2013. In the business plan, the Board sets out its objectives for the next two years, which relate to the operation of the mechanism, ensuring that it contributes to climate change mitigation and sustainable development, expanding its geographic reach, and promoting its use as a low-carbon development tool.
The management plan identifies five focus areas based on these objectives, as follows: the contribution to the strategic improvement of the CDM; broader and deeper participation in the CDM; the efficient and effective operation of the CDM; promotion, outreach and stakeholder interaction; and the development of appropriate tools and systems. It further outlines projects that will be taken under each focus area, including: continuing the implementation of a full quality management system for the work of the Secretariat in support of the CDM; elaborating standardized baselines; implementing programme of activities (PoA) standards and procedures; and establishing and operating regional collaboration centers.
