CDM Afforestation and Reforestation Working Group Considers Methodological Issues

August 2012: The report of the 36th meeting of the Afforestation and Reforestation (A/R) Working Group of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is now available. At the meeting, the Working Group considered matters relating to A/R CDM project activities, including revisions of, and clarifications to, approved A/R methodologies and tools.

At the meeting, which was held from 20-22 June 2012, in Bonn, Germany, the A/R Working Group also agreed to provide a response to the CDM Methodologies Panel regarding the request to revise a methodology relating to fuel switch to biomass from dedicated plantations. The response addresses issues related to soil emissions. In addition, the Working Group considered a draft approach for determining project boundaries in fragmented landscapes and decided not to consider the issue further at this time, but agreed that it could possibly be taken up at an appropriate time in the future.
