CBD Releases March Issue of REDD+ and Biodiversity Newsletter

March 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has released the March issue of its “REDD-plus & Biodiversity e-Newsletter.”

The newsletter aims to inform CBD National Focal Points and CBD partners about biodiversity aspects in relation to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, and conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks (REDD+). The March 2011 issue includes updates on: the Asia-Pacific Regional Consultation and Capacity Building Workshop on REDD+ Biodiversity Safeguards (15-18 March 2011, Singapore); launch of the “Planet Change” blog by the Nature Conservancy; an international conference on forest biodiversity in a changing climate (22-23 September 2011, Freiburg, Germany); and recent publications, including a CBD/GIZ booklet on biodiversity and livelihoods, and a REDD+ manual for botanic gardens published by Botanic Gardens Conservation International and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
