AfDB Supports African Climate Change Institutions
4 May 2010: The African Development Bank (AfDB) launched a project to support climate institutions in Africa from 2010-2012, for an estimated total of US$37 million.
African institutions that will receive support include: the African Centre for Meteorological Applications for Development; the Agro-meteorology and Hydrology Regional Centre; the Intergovernmental Authority on Development Climate Prediction and Application Centre; the Drought Monitoring Centre; and the Global Humanitarian Forum. African climate scientists, and practitioners in health, water, agriculture and other climate sensitive sectors are expected to benefit from the project, which will disseminate information through existing networks, non-government and civil society organizations, print and electronic media and community radio stations broadcasting in local languages.
