ADB Supports Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant in Thailand
3 May 2010: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) approved funding for a 73 MW solar power plant in central Thailand, which is likely to become one of the largest solar photovoltaic projects in the world.
ADB will lend up to the equivalent of US$70 million to build the plant in Lopburi province, central Thailand. The project will be Thailand's first large, utility-scale solar power generating facility. The plant is expected to diversify the energy mix through the addition of solar energy capacity and demonstrate the success of privately-owned, renewable generation projects.
