Adaptation Fund Board Releases 14th Meeting Report

Adaptation Fund10 August 2011: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has released the report from its 14th meeting, during which the Board invited civil society to engage in a dialogue with the AFB in Durban, South Africa, at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, as well as discussions with institutions supporting the accreditation process of National Implementing Entities (NIE).

Also during the 20-22 June 2011 meeting in Bonn, Germany, the AFB invited Annex I Parties to make contributions to the Adaptation Fund and to specify the pledges already made. The AFB Secretariat described new NIE accreditation requests, and finalization of agreements on projects for Ecuador, Eritrea and Solomon Island. The Board decided to accredit the National Environment Fund of Benin as a NIE, and accredit the West African Development Bank. The AFB considered proposals for Jamaica, Argentina, Djibouti, Fiji, Guatemala, Madagascar, Maldives, Mongolia, Papua New Guinea, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Turkmenistan. The AFB approved a study on "how funding for regional projects/programmes could be considered within the cap per country." The AFB noted that the dates of the 15th meeting will be 14-16 September 2011, in Bonn, Germany; and the 16th meeting will be 12-14 December 2011, in Durban, South Africa. [Publication: Report of the Fourteenth Meeting of the Adaptation Fund Meeting Report]
