At the close of the Sixth Session of the UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Co-Chairs outlined initial thoughts on the next steps in the process, including a further set of formal OWG meetings following OWG 8 in February. The dates were revised at the conclusion of OWG 7. The next round of meetings will take place on: 3-5 March (OWG 9), 31 March - 4 April (OWG 10), 5-9 May (OWG 11), 16-20 June (OWG 12) and 14-18 July 2014 (OWG 13).

Organized by the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Central and South America, the Latin American Water Education and Training Network (LA-WETNet), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and universities from Chile, Colombia and Peru, the workshop aims to train professionals from environment and foreign ministries, members of parliament, and national water management institutions in themes linked to transboundary waters. The workshop will examine the importance of transboundary waters, water basin as well as management units in the regional context, the management of transboundary water courses and the impacts of climate change on international waters. The workshop will also introduce tools for action and cooperation in the regional context. The World Bank, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) founded GWP in 1996 to foster integrated water resources management (IWRM). LA-WETNet is a regional network that offers training services for integrated water management and for access to water and sanitation.
