The 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (CoP 16) to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) will address proposals to amend the Convention appendices and several administrative, strategic and financial issues. CITES was adopted in Washington DC, US, on 3 March 1973, and the 40th anniversary of the Convention will be celebrated at the March 2013 event.

72nd Meeting of the CDM Executive Board

The 72nd meeting of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board (EB) will meet from 4-8 March 2013, in Bonn, Germany.

Thirteenth Dialogue on Forests, Governance and Climate Change

The 13th RRI Dialogue, sub-titled "Status of Tenure Reforms in West and Central Africa and Impacts of Large-Scale Land Acquisitions, Extractive and Infrastructure Sectors," is being organized by the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), the Commission des Forets d'Afrique Centrale (COMIFAC), the Cameroonian Ministry of Forest and Wildlife (MINFOF), and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Participants will take stock of tenure reform in Central and West Africa since 2009, examining new pressures on forest lands from large scale land acquisitions, extractive industries, and infrastructure projects. This event was originally scheduled to take place in October, as the 12th RRI dialogue.

Second Meeting of the Adaptation Committee

The second meeting of the Adaptation Committee will take place after the approval of its three-year workplan by the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) in late 2012. The Adaptation Committee was established as part of the Cancun Adaptation Framework to promote the implementation of enhanced action on adaptation in a coherent manner under the Convention. The Committee's functions include: providing technical support and guidance to the parties; promoting synergy and engagement with national, regional and international organizations, centres and network; and providing information and recommendations for consideration by the COP.

Sustainable Tourism through Energy Efficiency with Adaptation and Mitigation Measures in Pangandaran

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Indonesia are presenting their jointly implemented project “Sustainable Tourism through Energy Efficiency with Adaptation and Mitigation Measures in Pangandaran” (STREAM), at the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) Berlin 2013. The event will discuss how the project be adapted and transferred to other tourism destinations in Indonesia and worldwide.
