The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are co-hosting the CIF 2012 Partnership Forum, on 6-7 November 2012, as well as associated meetings. The Forum will provide an opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to deepening global understanding of the linkages between climate change and development as they have been addressed within the context of the CIF. The Forum will be preceded by Pilot Country meetings for all CIF programs (the Clean Technology Fund, the Forest Investment Program, the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience, and the Program for Scaling-Up Renewable Energy in Low Income Countries), from 30 October-1 November, and a Private Sector Forum, on 5 November.

The 12th Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI) Dialogue on Forests, Governance and Climate Change will consider the theme "Scaling-Up Strategies to Reduce Emissions and Deliver Development in Forest Areas". Participants will identify the major emerging threats to forests and take stock of proven strategies to reduce emissions, and will assess the potential for expanding and becoming even more effective. They will also consider promising new initiatives to address the current and future drivers of deforestation and degradation, and the long-standing constraints of underdevelopment and weak governance. This event was originally scheduled to be the 13th RRI Dialogue, but the event that was originally scheduled as the 12th RRI Dialogue was rescheduled from October to January 2013.

The ECWs bring together GEF focal points, focal points from the main conventions (biodiversity, desertification, climate change and persistent organic pollutants), representatives from civil society and representatives from the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Agencies, to discuss priority issues and share lessons and experiences from the development and implementation of GEF projects and their integration within national policy frameworks. Countries eligible to participate in this Expanded Constituency Workshop for Asia are: Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and China.

CLIMATE 2012 / KLIMA 2012 is being organized by the Research and Transfer Centre of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and will consider the themes "Climate Change, Island States and Sustainable Technologies". The conference will introduce the latest scientific findings and technological developments related to climate change, and examine their links with renewable energy in small island nations. The patron of the 2012 worldwide online climate conference is Mohamed Ibn Chambas, Secretary General of the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) Group of States Secretariat. Partners include UNEP, WMO, OSS, UNESCO, SIDSnet, AOSIS, and IDRC. CLIMATE 2012 / KLIMA 2012 is also organized as part of the project "Small Developing Island Renewable Energy Knowledge and Technology Transfer Network" (DIREKT), funded by the ACP Science and Technology Programme, an EU programme for cooperation between the European Union and the ACP region (Africa, Caribbean, Pacific). DIREKT is a cooperation scheme involving universities from Germany, Fiji, Mauritius, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago with the aim of strengthening the science and technology capacity in the field of renewable energy of a sample of ACP small island developing states, by means of technology transfer, information exchange and networking.
