CGE Workshop for Asia and Pacific on Vulnerability and Adaptation Assessment 

The Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention (CGE) hands-on training workshop for the Asia and Pacific region on vulnerability and adaptation assessment will be held 8-12 October 2012, in Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The 11th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is organized by the CBD Secretariat. The High Level Segment will be held from 17-19 October 2012. The provisional agenda includes consideration of: the status of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits arising from their Utilization; implementation of the Strategic Plan 2011-2020 and progress towards the Aichi Biodiversity Targets; issues related to financial resources and the financial mechanism; issues related to cooperation, outreach and the UN Decade on Biodiversity; operations of the Convention; Article 8(j) and related provisions; in-depth review of the programme of work on island biodiversity; ways and means to support ecosystem restoration; marine and coastal biodiversity; biodiversity and climate change; other substantive issues arising from COP 10 decisions, including dryland, forest, inland waters, mountain, and agricultural biodiversity, protected areas, sustainable use of biodiversity, the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation, biofuels and biodiversity, invasive alien species, the Global Taxonomy Initiative, incentive measures, and biodiversity and development; as well as administrative and budgetary matters.

UNEP-SBCI Fall Symposium 2012

This Symposium of the UN Environment Programme's Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative (UNEP-SBCI) is organized during the Singapore Green Building Week. It is co-organized by Singapore's Building and Construction Authority Center for Sustainable Buildings (BCA CSB) and the Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC), and will bring together about 150 participants.

Expert Meeting on a Range of Approaches to Address Loss and Damage

The UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat has organized a series of regional expert meetings to address issues related to a range of approaches to address loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change, including impacts related to extreme weather events and slow-onset events. The experts at the meetings consider: approaches and tools for assessing risk; lessons learned from current efforts in the public and private sectors; design of comprehensive risk management portfolios or toolkits; and tailoring approaches and tools to national contexts.

2012 Annual Meetings of World Bank and International Monetary Fund
