This e-forum will seek to engage with stakeholders and provide a platform for the exchange of views and sharing of technical and analytic information on a variety of topics. It will include sub-forums on: “Scaling mobilization of finance resources from multiple sources of finance,” taking place from 3-9 September; “Insight from approaches applied to assessment of financing needs to implement mitigation and adaption measures in developing countries,” from 10-14 September; “Addressing the adaptation finance needs of developing countries,” from 15-22 September; and “Enabling conditions needed to mobilize climate finance,” from 23 September to 6 October.

The 14th Ordinary Session of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN-14) will provide a platform for African Ministers to debate the key outcomes of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), and address other emerging issues related to sustainable development and the environment in Africa. The meeting will also provide an opportunity to the Ministers to refine their strategies on a common approach to engaging with the international community in the climate change negotiation process and in preparation of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP 18), to take place at the end of 2012 in Doha, Qatar. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has served as the Secretariat of AMCEN since its inception.

The UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and partners will organize a workshop on aid effectiveness in the area of public expenditure related to climate change, bringing 100 government officials and development partners from the Asia Pacific, Africa and Latin America regions to Bangkok. Particpants at the three-day workshop, titled "Climate Public Expenditure and Institutional Reviews: Workshop on Past Experience and the Way Forward" and convening from 10-12 September 2012, will work on recommendations for peer support and collaboration and produce guidelines for a new "Climate Change Public Expenditure Review Sourcebook".

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) is organizing two workshops in Kenya to consider the role of soils in delivering global environmental benefits, and to share the tools developed by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)-GEF Carbon Benefits Project. A scoping workshop for the GEF on soil organic carbon for global benefits will be held 10-12 September at UNEP. On 13-16 September 2012, STAP and UNEP will lead a review workshop of the tools developed by the UNEP-GEF Carbon Benefits Project (CBP). The meeting will be held at Voi Wildlife Lodge in Tsavo.

This Conference will bring together climate scientists, water resource managers and other specialists to discuss the impacts of climate change on water resources across four categories: climate variability impacts on water availability and floods at short term to seasonal time scales; climate change and variability impacts on water security and flood damage at decadal and inter decadal time scales; dissemination of probabilistic climate and water information for operational planning and decision making; and building international cooperation and policy coordination for adaptation to climate change.

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States' (OECS) Reduce Risk to Human and Natural Assets Resulting from Climate Change (RRACC) project will host a seminar aimed primarily at government officials that will discuss: current issues and the state of coastal resources in the OECS; integrated coastal area and watershed management; impacts of climate change on the subregion's economy; and policy, legal and institutional arrangements for coastal areas management in the OECS.
