Organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this workshop aims to build capacity to: create national action plans for implementation of the CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas; access funding based on these action plans; and strengthen implementation of the programme of work on the themes of governance, climate change, and valuation of the costs and benefits of protected areas, with a focus on marine protected areas (MPAs) where applicable.

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Forest Investment Program (FIP) will hold a meeting of its pilot countries to evaluate progress and work ahead in reaching its objective of reducing deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) and promoting sustainable forest management (SFM). Pilot countries participating in FIP are: Brazil, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Laos, Mexico and Peru.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) through the Climate Change and Sustainability Division and the Knowledge and Learning Department is organizing a dialogue on the impact of climate change on public finance in Latin America. The event, which will take place in Spanish, aims to share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices about the design and implementation of different instruments and mechanisms to confront the fiscal impact of climate change. Participants in this workshop include Ministers of Finance, Directors of Public Credit and officials in charge of budget planning, public investment, and climate change topics, as well as international experts.

This workshop on climate change adaptation in Africa, hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), is being held to provide a forum for knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas on common climate change risks, build on lessons learnt from project implementation to formulate common solutions in support of national policy processes and identify best practices for delivering adaptation solutions. The workshop also aims to engage key regional partners and policy makers across the continent on climate change adaptation.
