The eighth UN-REDD Programme Policy Board meeting will be held from 25-26 March 2012. It will be followed by a joint meeting of the governing bodies of the UN-REDD Programme and the World Bank's Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF), on 27 March 2012.

The tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 10) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) called for the creation of an Intersessional Working Group (IWG) on the mid-term evaluation of the ten year Strategy for the Convention. The IWG is expected to consist of 14 members: the President of the COP; the chairpersons of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC) and of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST); two members from each of five regional groups; and one CSO representative.

As called for at the first PrepCom of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, also called Rio+20), three intersessional meetings will be convened, in addition to three PrepComs, to prepare for the June 2012 UNCSD event. Intersessional III is scheduled for 26-27 March 2012.

This workshop is organized by the UN University (UNU), in collaboration with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Australian Government Department of Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the UN Development Programme (UNDP). The workshop aims to: reflect the range of perspectives concerning indigenous peoples/local communities and climate change responses (including mitigation); support the build-up of understanding and peer-reviewed literature in the field of indigenous peoples, local communities and climate change mitigation; compile data and grey literature that are relevant for understanding climate change mitigation involving local and indigenous knowledge holders, local populations, and developing country scientists; support Indigenous peoples', local communities' and developing country scientists' engagement and research in international climate dialogues; provide policy makers with relevant information on the mitigation potential of indigenous peoples and local communities; and outline a publication in a Special Issue of a peer-reviewed scientific journal.

The UNFCCC Secretariat is organizing this expert meeting to address issues related to assessing the risk of loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change. The meeting will consider inputs from relevant stakeholders and draw on expertise within and outside the Convention, with the aim of building a knowledge base for the discussion of a range of approaches to address loss and damage.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Accreditation Panel will hold its 59th meeting to consider matters relating to the accreditation of operational entities.

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Methodology Panel holds regular meetings to consider matters relating to CDM baseline and monitoring plans and methodologies.

This meeting of the Technology and Economic Assessment Panel (TEAP) and the Task Force on Decision XXIII/10 (Updating the nomination and operational processes of the TEAP) will consider technical information related to the alternative technologies employed and to the work of the various technical options committees (TOCs).
