14_April_2015: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President François Hollande issued a joint statement affirming their support to ensuring a successful outcome at the UN Paris Climate Change Conference in December 2015, and stressing the importance of timely submissions of intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs) and raising pre-2020 ambition. April_2015: According to a study by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), renewable energy, in particular electricity from solar photovoltaics (PV), has been cost-competitive in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since 2014. Prepared as part of IRENA's REmap country study series, the report finds that increasing the share of renewable energy in the UAE's energy mix to 10% and electricity generation mix to 25% by 2030 could generate annual net savings of at least US$1.9 billion. continued...
