Event: Climate Change Adaptation in the Caribbean: Science, Ethics and Policies [viewed]

This meeting is convened by the Sector for Social and Human Sciences of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in collaboration with the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis and with the support of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The meeting will bring together regional experts, ministerial and governmental officials, representatives from the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) with a view to examining how climate science and ethics can be brought to bear on policy construction at both the local and international levels.

7th SPC Heads of Fisheries Meeting Discusses Impact of Climate Change [viewed]

4 March 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) convened the 7th SPC Heads of Fisheries Meeting from 1-4 March, in Noumea, New Caledonia. The meeting brought together fisheries representatives from 14 Pacific Island Countries and included a one-day session on climate change, where delegates considered the impact of climate change on Pacific fisheries.

Event: Ocean Climate and Marine Ecosystems in the Western Pacific: IOC/WESTPAC Eighth International Scientific Symposium [viewed]

This Symposium is organized by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) - Sub-Commission for the Western Pacific (WESTPAC). It aims to bring together marine scientists with a view to encouraging an interdisciplinary approach towards the management and sustainable development of coasts and oceans with the growing challenges of climate change. Issues to be addressed include: coastal acidification; climate modeling and prediction; marine remote sensing; and paleoclimatology (corals and monsoon).
