SPREP Meteorological Meeting Recommends Increased Climate Activities [viewed]

Mayor's Summit on DRR Adopts Chengdu Declaration of Action [viewed]

Adaptation Fund10 August 2011: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has released the report from its 14th meeting, during which the Board invited civil society to engage in a dialogue with the AFB in Durban, South Africa, at the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 17) to the UNFCCC, as well as discussions with institutions supporting the accreditation process of National Implementing Entities (NIE).

SPREP Supports Media Training on Climate Change in Vanuatu [viewed]

5 August 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) convened a day-long training session attended by over 15 ni-Vanuatu representatives of local media. The workshop aimed to strengthen participants' understanding of the science of climate change, and increase their skills in translating technical information to local communities through the media.

Event: UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance Consultation [viewed]

This meeting is the fourth of seven planned regional consultations to be convened by the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) regarding the development of sustainability principles for the insurance industry. It is envisaged that once finalized, the UNEP FI Principles for Sustainable Insurance will serve as a global framework for insurance companies to better manage environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities in their core business strategies and operations.

Event: Review of the Pacific Adaption to Climate Change Meeting [viewed]

The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) is convening this meeting with representative of the 13 Pacific Island Countries involved in the Pacific Adaption to Climate Change (PACC) Project, to review and discuss progress and to share experiences and lessons learned. The PACC is implemented by SPREP in partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP). It is a US$13 million project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project provides funds and support for national climate change adaptation projects in the areas of coastal management, food production and security, and water resources management.
