The event consisted of two sessions on natural capital solutions, namely: protected areas meeting global environmental challenges; and natural capital in Africa, Asia and Latin America - partnerships, policies and investments.

SPC/FAO Workshop Examines Climate Change Impacts on Pacific Fisheries and Aquaculture [viewed]

SPC13 June 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) convened a workshop aimed to transfer the results of SPC's recent vulnerability assessment, titled “Vulnerability of Tropical Pacific Fisheries and Aquaculture to Climate Change,” and to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change on fisheries and aquaculture in the region.

Event: Across the Regions: SIDS Solutions for Sustainable Development [viewed]

The Commonwealth Secretariat, in partnership with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), the Indian Ocean Commission (COI), and the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environmental Programme (SPREP), is organizing this high-level panel discussion on the sidelines of the UN Conference for Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The event aims to highlight the sustainable development concerns of small island developing States (SIDS). The event will also see the launch of a joint initiative to explore new ways to support climate resilient and low carbon economies, across the three sub-regions, through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU).
