UNDP Announces Winners of Asia Pacific Cartoon Contest on Climate Change [viewed]

UNDP18 April 2012: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) Asia-Pacific Regional Centre and the Government of France co-organized a cartoon contest to support advocacy that brings people to the centre of climate change and human development debates. The contest encouraged people from Asia-Pacific developing countries to portray issues of concern related to climate change in the region from a people's perspective.

Event: 68th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific [viewed]

The 68th session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) will focus on a four-track strategy to promote shared, sustainable and inclusive growth in the region by promoting market integration, physical connectivity, financial cooperation and joint action to address common vulnerabilities arising from shrinking resources and climate threats. The session will comprise both a senior officials segment (17-19 May), and a ministerial segment (21-23 May). The ministerial segment will include: a roundtable on the "Growing Together: Economic Integration for an Inclusive and Sustainable Asia-Pacific Century;" and a high-level panel on "Steering inclusive development amidst global turbulence and volatility". UNFCCC Workshop Focuses on Equitable Access to Sustainable Development [viewed]

16 May 2012: The in-session workshop on equitable access to sustainable development took place in Bonn, Germany, during the UN Climate Change Conference. The workshop aimed to enhance Parties' understanding of ensuring equitable access to sustainable development and its possible operationalization, particularly in the context of identifying the timeframe for the peaking of global emissions and the global goal for emission reductions in 2050.
