UNISDR Releases Report on Integrating DRR and Climate Change in Pacific [viewed]

September 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction Secretariat (UNISDR) has released a study on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CAA) in the Pacific, titled “Disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in the Pacific: an institutional and policy analysis.” The study analyzes the level of integration of DRR and CCA activities across the region.

UNESCO Reports on New Model for Estimating Coastline Erosion from Sea Level Rise [viewed]

UNESCO10 September 2012: The Institute for Water Education of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO-IHE) has highlighted recent findings that coastline erosion resulting from rising sea levels is much greater than previously estimated. Researchers from UNESCO-IHE, the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and the Deltares Institute found that the previously used model, known as the Bruun effect, did not consider erosion in inlet areas, such as river mouths and estuaries.

Climate Finance Investment Facility Calls for Proposals from Asia-Pacific Region [viewed]

Bhutan, UNDP-UNEP Hold Workshops on Green and Inclusive Development in Asia-Pacific [viewed]

9 August 2012: Bhutan hosted participants from eight Asia-Pacific countries in two high-level workshops addressing green and inclusive economics and development. In the keynote address, Bhutan's Minister of Labor and Human Resources, Lyonpo Dorji Wangdi, highlighted environmental resources as a critical asset for economic development and poverty reduction in developing countries.
