19 August 2010: At the 17th Ordinary Session of the Council of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation for North America (CEC), environmental ministers of Canada, the US and Mexico discussed a proposed 2010-2015 Strategic Plan, to guide CEC's work according to three priority issues for the region, including climate change and low-carbon economy.

9 July 2010: The US State Department has announced that US Special Envoy for Climate Change Todd Stern will travel to Latin America, together with Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Arturo Valenzuela, from 10-15 July 2010, to discuss several climate change issues.
