Iranian Cities Join UNISDR's Resilient Cities Campaign [viewed]

5 July 2012: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) has announced that ten Iranian cities, namely Fariman, Dargaz, Sabzevar, Kashmar, Chenaran, Torbat-e-Heidariyyel, Shandiz, Gonabad, Bajestan and Qouchan, have joined its Making Cities Resilient Campaign. The cities are all located in the disaster-prone province of Khorasan Razavi.

Rio Conventions Pavilion Highlights Progress in Gender Mainstreaming [viewed]

20 June 2012: The Rio Conventions Pavilion convened for Gender Mainstreaming Day at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). Sessions included: mainstreaming gender in the three Rio Conventions; linking research, policy and practice for gender-responsive action in forestry; political leadership and gender; and a celebration of women's leadership in sustainable development. A special event on the economics of sustainable development also took place.

UNFCCC Workshop Focuses on Equitable Access to Sustainable Development [viewed]

16 May 2012: The in-session workshop on equitable access to sustainable development took place in Bonn, Germany, during the UN Climate Change Conference. The workshop aimed to enhance Parties' understanding of ensuring equitable access to sustainable development and its possible operationalization, particularly in the context of identifying the timeframe for the peaking of global emissions and the global goal for emission reductions in 2050.
