1 May 2011: The Department of Rural Economy and Agriculture of the African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with the Government of Sudan, held the inaugural meeting of the Steering Committee of the African-Arab Joint Action Plan (JAP) on Agricultural Development and Food Security in Khartoum, Sudan.
12 April 2011: The World Bank has invited climate change researchers from Arab countries to contribute to the World Bank Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regional Climate Change Flagship Report, titled "Adaptation to a Changing Climate in the Arab Countries."
20 April 2011: Researchers from 31 countries meeting at an international symposium raised concerns about the increased vulnerability of wheat production in many countries to new varieties of stem rust, which could lead to epidemics threatening regional food security and rural livelihoods, as well as further increases in global food prices.
19 April 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published submissions (FCCC/SBI/2011/MISC.1) on views and information on elements to be included in the work programme on loss and damage associated with climate change impacts in developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change.
19 April 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published additional documents in preparation for the 34th session the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI), which will take place in Bonn, Germany, from 6-16 June 2011, in conjunction with the 34th session of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), as well as sessions of the Ad Hoc Working Groups.

11 April 2011: The second workshop on water and adaptation to climate change in transboundary basins was organized in the framework of the UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (UNECE Water Convention) from 12-13 April 2011, in Geneva, Switzerland.
The World Bank Middle East and North Africa Region (MENA) is developing a regional Climate Change Flagship Report, "Adaptation to a Changing Climate in the Arab Countries." A writing meeting will be held to prepare the First Draft of the Report ready for formal public review. Preferences will be given to early career professionals and to engaging new contributors from the full geographic range of the Arab region.
7 April 2011: The second Clean Energy Ministerial took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 6-7 April 2011, to discuss progress on initiatives developed as a result of the first Clean Energy Ministerial, which met in July 2010, in Washington DC, US.
6 April 2011: The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has created a new partnership with 11 other organizations and institutions to tackle the threats of climate change facing forests in the Mediterranean region. The announcement came during the Second Mediterranean Forest Week, held from 5-8 April 2011, in Avignon, France.
