Event: World Bank Institute Climate Finance Workshop for the Eastern Caribbean [viewed]

The World Bank Institute will co-organize and deliver a Workshop on "Climate Finance for Development" aimed at policy makers and energy sector planners of member countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The objective of the workshop is to raise awareness and share information on World Bank tools, instruments and best practices on financing climate change adaptation and sustainable energy. The workshop will help to identify knowledge gaps and capacity building needs of the Caribbean region in the context of climate change and discuss types of financial mechanisms suitable for OECS countries.

Adaptation Fund Board Publishes Report of 16th Meeting [viewed]

Adaptation Fund3 February 2012: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has released the approved report of its 16th meeting, which was held from 13-14 December 2011, alongside the seventh meeting of the Project and Programme Review Committee (PPRC), the Ethics and Finance Committee (EFC) and a civil society dialogue. At the meeting, the AFB approved project proposals in Uruguay, Cook Islands, Georgia, Madagascar, Samoa and Tanzania.

UK, Caribbean Countries Agree on Sustainable Growth Action Plan [viewed]

CARICOM23 January 2012: The seventh UK-Caribbean Ministerial Forum, which was organized under the theme "Sustainable Growth Toward Prosperity," concluded with the adoption of a 31-point action plan. The UK agreed to give the region 75 million pounds over four years for its implementation, with 4.9 million pounds earmarked for climate change work.
