African Youth Commit to DRR [viewed]

Seven youth leaders participated in a disaster risk reduction (DRR) educational voyage and training programme aboard the passenger ship of the Japan-based NGO Peace Boat, which sailed from the port of Maputo, Mozambique, to Cape Town, South Africa.

World Bank Investments to Fuel Largest Solar Project in Central America [viewed]

World Bank-IFC-CIF13 January 2015: The World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) have announced financing to help SunEdison build the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) development in Central America to date. A total investment of US$146 million will support the construction of 81.7 megawatts (MW) of solar PV in Honduras.

IOM, Sciences Po Assess Migration, Environment and Climate Change Nexus [viewed]

The report seeks to raise awareness on the effects of climate change on the livelihoods of vulnerable populations.

IRENA, Partners Launch New Version of Global Atlas for Renewable Energy [viewed]

IRENAJanuary 2015: The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and partners have released the second edition of the 'Global Atlas on Renewable Energy,' which includes maps for a number of renewable energy resources, and new functions and tools. The Atlas initiative aims to provide access for countries to the necessary datasets, expertise and financial support to evaluate their renewable energy potential.

CIAT Develops CSA Country Profiles in LAC [viewed]

CIATJanuary 2015: The International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) has developed seven climate-smart agriculture (CSA) country profiles and two sub-national ones, prepared in collaboration with government ministries and agencies, as well as private sector and civil society representatives. Each profile sets a CSA baseline for the following countries in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC): Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Grenada, Mexico and Peru.

Event: International Conference on Environmental and Geo-information and Communication [viewed]

This international interdisciplinary conference will convene from 4-6 March 2015, in Bogota, Colombia, under the theme 'Achieving Sustainability Goals through Knowledge Sharing'. The conference will aim at exchange and sharing of knowledge on environmental information and communication in a variety of environmental domains and sectors, and methods models and techniques. The event will focus on examining how environmental information and communication are generated, handled, managed, distributed and made accessible. The conference is being organized by Esri Colombia, the German National Committee for the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA), and the International Society for Environmental Protection (ISEP). Presentations and documentation of the main conference will be in English. Related workshops will be mostly conducted in Spanish.

Guyana Accepts Doha Amendment to Kyoto Protocol [viewed]
