14 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has approved a $90 million facility to support on-lending to energy efficiency, cleaner production and renewable energy projects through Colombian financial institutions.
Co-hosted by the Organization of American States (OAS) and the Council of the Americas, this meeting will bring together current and potential private sector investors with Central American energy ministers to promote an open discussion on obstacles and opportunities for regulatory reforms to support clean energy. The specific goal of CAREF III will be to deepen the dialogue and understanding of regulatory reform and best practices for renewable energy in the region.
9 June 2011: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Nature Conservancy and the FEMSA Foundation have launched a US$27 million dollar initiative to create water funds, private-public partnerships to protect critical watersheds in Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Mexico and other countries.
7 June 2011: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) has released a report titled "Status of Tropical Forest Management 2011," which states that the area of tropical forests under sustainable management has increased by 50% since 2005. It also warns that over 90% of tropical forests globally are poorly managed or not at all.

8 June 2011: The REDD ALERT Project at the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) has released three papers that explore issues related to stakeholder perceptions of REDD+ (reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries, as well as conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of carbon stocks) and economic gains.
