BASIC Countries Call for Strengthened Commitments Ahead of Doha [viewed]

CDB Funds Study to Reform Anguilla's Environment, Land Planning Legislation [viewed]

Event: IEA Sustainable Energy Training Seminar [viewed]

The International Energy Agency (IEA), Mexican Department of Energy (SENER), and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) are holding this event to encourage policymakers to exchange best practices in sustainable energy, and will also see the launch of several new publications. The training event is particularly focused on low-carbon energy policies and technologies, including energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. Two parallel courses on "Energy Efficiency Policy and Measures" and "Energy Technology Planning and Analysis" are offered. During the event, several new publications will also be released, including: the IEA's "Energy Technology Perspectives 2012"; the Latin American version of the "Energy Efficiency Governance Handbook"; and the IDB's new monthly series of energy efficiency booklets.

Landlocked Developing Countries' Trade Ministers Adopt Almaty Declaration [viewed]

UN-OHRLLS14 September 2012: Ministers and officials responsible for trade of the Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) met in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at the Fourth Meeting of LLDCs' Trade Ministers, to define common positions on trade and development needs for LLDCs. The meeting concluded with the adoption of the Almaty Ministerial Declaration, which calls for international support to address the negative impacts of climate change on the availability of natural resources, in particular water and arable land.
