World Bank29 November 2012: The World Bank has provided an update of a Bank-supported project in Colombia that assists indigenous communities in the Putumayo Department plan for adaptation to climate change. The project won a small grant in 2009 during the Bank's annual "Development Marketplace" competition.

GEF CEO Outlines the GEF's Vision at COP 18 Side Event [viewed]

1 December 2012: On the sidelines of the 18th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UNFCCC, the Global Environment Facility (GEF) CEO and Chairperson Naoko Ishii met with participants to discuss "GEF 2020," the GEF's long-term strategic vision. Event: CARIWIG Inaugural Workshop [viewed]

The inaugural workshop of the Caribbean Weather Impacts Group (CARIWIG) Project will serve as its first stakeholder consultation, bringing together managers, technical personnel and policy makers from 25 national, intergovernmental and regional entities to discuss how CARIWIG can best serve the Caribbean's water, agriculture and coastal resource sectors through reliable access to unbiased, locally-relevant climate change information in a manner that complements their planning cycles. Funded by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), CARIWIG is to be implemented by the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), the University of the West Indies, the University of East Anglia (UK) and Cuba's Institute of Meteorology.

UNFCCC and Partners Launch UN Alliance on Climate Change Education, Training and Awareness [viewed]

UNFCCC3 December 2012: The Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) launched the UN Alliance on Climate Change Education, Training and Public Awareness along with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

UNCCD Holds Land For Life Awards Ceremony in Doha [viewed]

3 December 2012:  The UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) has granted the first Land For Life Award to civil society organizations from Haiti, Turkey and Uganda for their innovative work combating land degradation. UNCCD recognized the three winners at a Recognition Gala event, which included ministers from their respective countries, at the UN Climate Change Conference in Doha, Qatar.
