Fourth Clean Energy Ministerial Launches Actions on Energy Access, Efficiency, and Supply [viewed]

18 April 2013: Leaders from the Clean Energy Ministerial's (CEM) 23 participant countries have announced new actions and reaffirmed existing commitments to accelerate clean energy deployment, improve energy efficiency, and increase access to clean energy around the world. The energy ministers and other high-level delegates who gathered for the Ministerial's fourth meeting (CEM4) also outlined progress on CEM's 13 current initiatives and welcomed further work on clean energy finance to be delivered to CEM5 in the Republic of Korea in 2014.

MIF, NDF Launch “PROADAPT” to Build Climate Resilience in LAC [viewed]

15 April 2013: The Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), a member of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group, and the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) announced the launch of a US$11.9 million regional facility, PROADAPT, which will support micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Latin American and the Caribbean (LAC) to build climate resilience and access green business opportunities.

IDB Approves US$50 Million Energy Efficiency Finance Facility [viewed]

IDB15 April 2013: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) approved US$50 million for the launch of the Energy Efficiency Finance Facility, which aims to finance companies investing in energy efficiency and self-supply renewable energy projects in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), by helping them to overcome financial barriers with small-scale loans to curb emissions.

Adaptation Fund Board Approves Direct Access Project in Argentina [viewed]

UNFCCC Releases Updated Compilation of Developing Countries' NAMAs [viewed]

UNFCCC11 April 2013: The UNFCCC Secretariat released an updated compilation of all nationally appropriate mitigation action (NAMAs) that developing countries intend to implement (FCCC/SBI/2013/INF.12). It contains NAMA information communicated by 55 developing countries and a group of parties, as included in documents FCCC/AWGLCA/2011/INF.1 and FCCC/AWGLCA/2012/MISC.2 and Add.1, as well as those provided by Burkina Faso, Dominica, Gambia and Guinea, who had not previously communicated NAMAs.

Event: Fifth Scaling up Renewable Energy Program (SREP) Pilot Country Meeting [viewed]

The fifth meeting of pilot countries participating in the Program for Scaling-up Renewable Energy in Low Income Countries (SREP) will provide a platform for pilot and reserve countries to share updates on the status of their projects, last assessed in October 2012. Sessions will focus on the areas of monitoring and reporting on energy access results, project delivery, and private sector engagement. A full day will be devoted to renewable energy progress in SREP countries and participants will take part in a field visit to Villingili Island. The countries participating in SREP are: Ethiopia, Honduras, Kenya, Maldives, Mali, Liberia, Nepal and Tanzania.
