Event: Fifth Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management: Strengthening Partnerships for Resilience [viewed]

The Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management is the instrument for promoting knowledge dissemination in the areas of risk reduction, disaster preparedness and response, and adaptation to climate change in the Caribbean region. This Conference provides the platform for dialogue on initiatives and issues to advance the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) agenda and for measuring progress in the region within the context of the Enhanced CDM Strategy and Programming Framework 2007-2012. CDM is the regional contribution to the Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015, for global action in disaster risk reduction. The CDM Conference is a regional event of the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) global platform.

Event: 17th ILO American Regional Meeting [viewed]

This meeting is convened by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and is intended to provide a forum for tripartite delegations to express their opinions on the themes addressed by the Report prepared by the Director-General of the ILO for this meeting. The Meeting will host a series of four Dialogues about issues related to the lessons of the crisis for the World of Work, decent work challenges, and innovative experiences, including green jobs.

UNCTAD LDC Report Highlights Vulnerabilities to Climate Change Impacts [viewed]

25 November 2010: The UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) published "The Least Developed Countries Report 2010" which, among other issues, highlights the vulnerability of LDCs to climate impacts. For example, the report indicates that the LDC small island developing states (SIDS) and LDCs in Asia are particularly vulnerable to the impact of storms and are also the least able to cope with the social and economic fallout from climate-related incidents.

ACP Fisheries Ministers Adopt Action Plan [viewed]

25 November 2010: The second meeting of the fisheries ministers of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) States, which took place in Mahe, Seychelles, from 24-25 November 2010, adopted a resolution addressing climate change and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, among other issues.
