PROFOR Investigates How Forests Enhance Climate Resilience of Drinking Water Supply [viewed]

PROFOR24 November 2015: The Program on Forests (PROFOR) has issued a case study demonstrating how forest preservation and restoration can enhance the climate change resilience of drinking water supplies, focusing on Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Issued as a PROFOR Working Paper, the case study was produced in collaboration with the Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) of the CIGAR Consortium.

apec19 November 2015: Ministers from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) countries affirmed their commitment to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda on financing for development (AAAA) at the close of the 23rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting meeting. APEC leaders also adopted the APEC Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Framework to facilitate international cooperation cooperation on DRR.

FoodSECuRE Facility to Build Community Resilience to Climate Change [viewed]

wfp_iriNovember 2015: The Food Security Climate Resilience (FoodSECuRE) Facility, an initiative of the World Food Programme (WFP), aims to secure US$400 million to enable governments to quickly unlock funding to scale up food and nutrition responses as well as disaster risk reduction activities before climate disasters occur. The WFP and its partner, the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), have launched activities in five countries, with fast-tracked implementation in Zimbabwe and Guatemala to respond to El Niño.
