UN Launches Flash Appeals to Address Flooding in Central America [viewed]

28 October 2011: The UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR) has announced that the UN has launched two flash appeals to provide emergency assistance to the Central American countries of Nicaragua and El Salvador. Both countries are facing the highest rainfall in 50 years, due to Tropical Depression 12-E.

Event: CIF PPCR Pilot Countries Meeting [viewed]

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Pilot Program on Climate Resilience (PPCR) will hold a meeting to review progress and tasks ahead in implementing PPCR. The pilot programs and projects implemented under the PPCR are country-led, build on National Adaptation Programs of Action (NAPA) and other relevant country studies and strategies, and include countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.

Event: CIF FIP Pilot Countries Meeting [viewed]

The Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Forest Investment Program (FIP) will hold a meeting of its pilot countries to evaluate progress and work ahead in reaching its objective of reducing deforestation and forest degradation (REDD) and promoting sustainable forest management (SFM). Pilot countries participating in FIP are: Brazil, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Indonesia, Laos, Mexico and Peru.

Event: 27th Meeting of the Forestry Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (COFLAC 27) [viewed]

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization's (FAO) regional forestry commission serving Latin America and the Caribbean will hold its biennial meeting to review and coordinate the application of forestry policies in the region and exchange information among officials from LAC countries responsible for the sector. COFLAC 27 is to focus on the sustainable management of forests, and forests and climate change.

IDB and Nordic Development Fund Support Green Microfinance [viewed]
