The meeting will discuss recent developments of the Global Energy Efficiency 21 Project, the Global Strategy for Energy Efficiency Market Formation, the outcome of the Astana International Energy Efficiency Forum, and the programme of work for 2011–2012.
This meeting will discuss financing energy efficiency and renewable energy investments for climate change mitigation. It will also address: development of the renewable energy sector in the Russian Federation and in countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States; increasing energy efficiency for secure energy supplies; energy efficiency market formation in South-Eastern Europe; removing barriers to energy efficiency improvements in the state sector in Belarus; green procurement for smart purchasing; the Action Plan for Energy-efficient Housing in the UNECE Region; modern and sustainable heat and power from woody biomass in South-Eastern Europe; and Best Practice Guidance on Effective Methane Drainage and Use in Coal Mines.
This meeting will review recent developments of the project on Financing Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Investments for Climate Change Mitigation. The meeting will also discuss: work-in-progress by the Investment Fund Designer project contractor; work-in-progress by the Development of a Website and Internet Communications Network of Energy Efficiency Managers in Eastern Europe project contractor; review of progress in implementation of grants by the National Participating Institutions; preparations for the second International Energy Efficiency Forum and Workshop on Investments in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Projects; and the working group on investment project development standards.
Participants at this meeting will consider the possible establishment of a joint Working Party on Forest Policy and Management as a subsidiary body under the Timber Committee of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the European Forestry Commission of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The session will gather high-level officials from the 56 UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) member States, the European Commission, international and European transport organizations and non-governmental organizations. One of the issues to be discussed at the meeting is climate change and transport, including the development of environmentally friendly and sustainable transport systems and the establishment of a new group of experts on the impacts of climate change on international transport networks.
