European Council Endorses Post-Copenhagen Strategy [viewed]

26 March 2010: The European Council, gathering Heads of State and government of the EU, met in Brussels, Belgium, on 25-26 March 2010, to discuss the EU's strategy on the international climate change negotiations, among other things. In its conclusions, the European Council called for introducing a new dynamic to the international negotiation process, and proposed following a stepwise approach building on the Copenhagen Accord and its swift implementation.

CARIFORUM-EU Political Dialogue Addresses Preparations for Cancun [viewed]

24 March 2010: The first CARIFORUM-EU Political Dialogue was held in Kingston, Jamaica, on 23 March 2010, to discuss issues of common interest. Among the challenges facing the Caribbean, delegates discussed the global financial crisis, regional food security, high dependence on energy and problems related to climate change and natural disasters.

EU-ACP Agreement Revised [viewed]

19 March 2010: The European Commission and the 79 States of the African Caribbean Pacific (ACP) group have concluded the second revision of the Cotonou Partnership Agreement, which sets the framework for their cooperation. The revision aims to adapt the Agreement to today's challenges, such as climate change, food security, regional integration, State fragility and aid effectiveness.

AIMS SIDS Discuss Regional Implementation of MSI [viewed]

18 March 2010: The small island developing States (SIDS) of the AIMS (Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean and South China Sea) region met in Male, Maldives, from 9-10 March 2010, to review progress achieved in the implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the Further Implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action for the Sustainable Development of SIDS (MSI). Participants expressed their desire to develop a regional position within the UNFCCC negotiations, among other areas for further attention.
