Event: IEA Energy Efficiency and Clean Coal Technologies Workshop [viewed]

This workshop will discuss clean coal technologies and policy to improve the efficiency of coal-fired electricity generation and carbon capture and storage (CCS), concentrating on the particular circumstances of the Russian Federation. UNECE, FAO Release Study on Wood Consumption [viewed]

3 August 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) have published a study showing that, while the consumption of wood and paper products fell by 11.6% in the UNECE region in 2009, wood used for energy is the only segment of the market that grew due to government policies aimed at promoting renewable energy sources in order to mitigate climate change and improve energy security.
