UNECE Releases First Review of Turkmenistan's Environmental Performance [viewed]

The 37th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 37) will consider for approval two methodology reports: the "2013 Supplement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories: Wetlands”; and the good practice guidance on estimating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) under the Kyoto Protocol.

IEA Predicts Coal to Nearly Overtake Oil as Top Energy Source by 2017 [viewed]

IEA17 December 2012: The International Energy Agency's (IEA) newly released Medium-Term Coal Market Report (MCMR) predicts that coal will come close to overtaking oil as the world's top energy source by 2017. The report expects rising coal use in every region of the world, except the United States, where cheap and abundant shale gas is displacing coal.
